Hello, I am Jayalakshmi Periasamy a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with a unique path to nutrition science.
I grew up in a family of doctors where health and wellness were always part of our conversations. After earning my degree in engineering, I spent over a decade as a software engineer, building a career.
Despite my father's encouragement to explore nutritional sciences, I hesitated to leave the tech world behind. But life has a way of revealing your true calling when you least expect it.
During my pregnancy with my son, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. What began as an overwhelming and anxiety-filled experience transformed into a profound awakening. Under the guidance of a registered dietitian, I navigated this challenging time with growing confidence and a deepening understanding of how nutrition impacts our health.
This experience opened my eyes to the powerful connection between food choices and wellbeing. I witnessed firsthand how proper nutritional guidance could not just manage a health condition but also provide peace of mind during a vulnerable time.
As a mother, I now see daily how good nutrition influences the healthy development of children. This perspective, combined with my personal health journey, inspired me to make a significant change – leaving my established career in software engineering to pursue my passion for nutrition full-time.
My background in technology gave me analytical skills that I now apply to nutritional science, allowing me to approach dietary planning with both precision and creativity.
Today, I specialize in helping individuals—especially those managing diabetes—make informed, sustainable food choices. During my own experience, I identified a significant gap in nutritional guidance for South Asian diets in the U.S. This has motivated me to create inclusive, culturally sensitive recommendations that support diverse communities.
My goal is to empower you with personalized nutrition guidance that honors your cultural heritage while effectively managing health concerns, drawing from my unique perspective as both someone who has navigated gestational diabetes personally and as a nutrition professional.
I believe nutrition is the foundation of a healthy body and mind. My approach combines evidence-based science with practical, personalized guidance that respects your cultural background, personal preferences, and lifestyle needs.
